 T.R.U.E.
(Timbuktu-Renaissance Unity Education) project is more than just
volunteers tutoring children in need; it has a greater message with the
uniting of a urban school located in Detroit with a suburban church that
has a core value to provide service to others. We are confident that
T.R.U.E. will be a demonstration of what can be done when we come
together.
We have scheduled three 90-minute training sessions that
will be held at Timbuktu Academy
located at 10800 E. Canfield St. Detroit, Michigan 48214, to
familiarize you with the school and explain the reading and math
tutoring programs, as well as, discuss other areas of interest you may
desire to share with the Timbuktu students.
Please sign up for only one of the sessions.

Co-coordinator, at 313-823-6000 to RSVP to inform her of the session you
will be attending. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions,
call to make other arrangements that better meet with your schedule.
Secure parking is located at the rear of the school.
Volunteers are needed in the following
areas.

Timbuktu welcomes volunteers interested
in Tutoring in Reading or Math, Music or Art instruction, Group
Activities, Field Trips and other areas as identified.
-
Thursday tutoring from 9:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. Volunteers will be assigned a student to work with. A
commitment is requested through the remainder of the school year
concluding June 18.
Please
Note:
Michigan
state law requires that all volunteers in a public school must obtain a
clearance from a Family Independence Agency (FIA) office prior to
volunteering. The Clearance must be returned to TIMBUKTU ACADEMY.
To
complete the Clearance process, prospective volunteers may go to
Renaissance Unity during office hours or the nearest FIA office. If you
have received a clearance for the 2009/2010 school year, this can be
used.
Again, thank you for joining the T.R.U.E.
project and we look forward to your support. |

SUMMER FOOD DRIVE
FOR KIDS
There are thousands of kids in the free and reduced
breakfast and lunch programs at school. For them, summertime doesn't
mean a fun filled vacation; for them, no
school means no meals.
Your donations of canned goods will help a child eat this
summer.
Beginning Sunday, June 20 you can drop your food
donations in containers located in the Sanctuary
