RU Looks Inside Juneteenth (Emancipation Day)

Together will explore the events that took place when slavery was abolished in Texas and how slavery was still allowed in some states and circumstances afterwards.  We will discuss how a series of events that followed throughout history held black communities back from race riots to systemic economic disparities. Included in our discussion, is why many of these events were omitted from our American history curriculum during the appropriate time periods being taught. Integrated in our time together will be ways that we can move forward and how we can all work together to educate ourselves about our real unsanitized history.

Change begins with all of us understanding where we are, how were got here and what has to change for us to create an equitable future.
