About the Event
Come and learn as we take an exciting tour exploring the fight for freedom in Detroit with Jamon Jordan and The Black Scroll Network. "Many people don't realize that Black people were the leaders of the the abolitionist movement & the Underground Railroad in Detroit. In fact, the fight against slavery is what CREATED the Black community IN DETROIT! Please come out and learn about the people, the events, and the places that showed Black cooperative action, Black agency, and Black unity that created a Black community."
This is a walking tour for a maximum of 15 people so registration is required. Please wear comfortable shoes and suitable clothing for the weather that day. The tour includes about a mile of walking.
We will meet at Campus Martius Park at 2pm next to the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument
Tour fees have been paid by an anonymous donor. Further donations to help fund youth tours can be made to The Black Scroll Network as desired. The Act Now with RU Movement team is excited to experience this event with you IN-PERSON!
